Sometimes in San Francisco, busses are late. Or they just never come. Sometimes they’re early. Any way you look at it, riding Muni involves walking and running. Just the other day I was heading home, but after seeing Google’s prediction for the next bus being 15 minutes out, I decided to start walking along the bus line instead of just standing there. I would look back, making sure to not be too far from a bus stop without time to find one. 45 minutes later I arrived at my house, not a single bus had passed by on that route. I looked back and one was just coming up from the bottom of the hill. This is why waiting for busses in San Francisco is a bad idea. It’s best to just start walking and get on that bus if it happens to come by. Great way to get in shape, and it’s only $60 a month.

Fad Weight Loss Diets Do not Work

People are always looking for a miracle diet that will magically cause the weight to disappear. However, they just do not work. From the vinegar diet to the maple syrup diet, the fad weight loss diet has existed for a long time. The first low carbohydrate diet appeared in 1825, way ahead of Dr. Atkin's time. Lord Byron popularized the vinegar and water diet in 1820.

Why is it that we always fall for these fad weight loss diets? Part of the reason, we want to lose weight, we want to lose it now, and we're in a hurry to get there. We are looking for the shortcuts. Not only does it take a dipline to eat right and exercise, but a lot of people find it boring and they grow impatient waiting for the results.

The problem with fad diets, is after a while, you just get sick of eating only one thing. You start craving variety or you want that sweet snack, and you've been stripped for so long, you just eat the whole bag of candy bars. A good weight loss diet plan should change a person's eating and exercise habits for life, not just for a short time.

Not all fad diets sound ridiculous, in fact some of them actually sound very scientific. Unfortunately, the main reason a person loses weight on this diet is because of some calorie cutting that occurs when a food group is practically eliminated. In fact, all fad weight loss diets have at least one thing in common. They have some sort of gimmick that cuts calories, usually to the extreme.

Another thing that fad diets have that is real weight loss diet does not have is the "It sounds too good to be true" factor. Any diet promoting overnight results is just too unrealistic. It takes time and effort to really lose weight and keep it off. Therefore, if you hear of a diet that just sounds too good to be true, it probably is not true.

Because a fad diet tends to eliminate whole food groups, the dieter is denied important nutrients. As a result, your health can suffer, you could become vitamin deficient, and it has even led to death in extreme cases.

In today's society, it is important to be thin, in fact your success in life sometimes may even depend on it. Therefore, it is tempting to look for the quick fix. But just remember the old saying, if it looks too good to be true is especially true for fad diets. Personal trainers can be a great help when you are trying to get in shape. They can tell you what exercises to do, how to do them and are a great motivational force. They can drive you to get in shape or to reach a new level of physical fitness. A good personal trainer is worth their weight in gold, but a bad one can aggravate and de-motivate you. So how do you find a good personal trainer? You can not just pick one and hope for the best. You have to do a little research to find the one who is right for you. This article will help you screen your personal trainers so you can find the one that's right for you.

The first thing you need to look at is the education level of the personal training specialist. Find out what personal
training schools that they attended, what certificates they hold and how much hands on training they have. There are quite a few different schools and certifying bodies in the personal training industry and one may not need to be better than the other. The important thing is that they have some education. If a personal trainer takes their career seriously, they will have obtained some official training and will be eager to talk about it.

The next thing that you should check for is references. Ask them for a few names of happy customers that would recommend them. If they are doing a good job, they will probably have dozens of satisfied customers who will send their praises. You should also see who they are training. If they are primarily training hardcore body builders and you just want to lose a few pounds, they may not be for you.

Another factor to consider is the price. Choose a personal trainer that charges fairly but who is not necessarily cheap. Always beware of the lowest bidder. If they charge much lower than everyone else, you have to wonder why they value their service so little. Seek the middle ground in price, not too high but not too low.

The last thing that you need to take into consideration is personality. Find someone who you like and can get along with. If you do not like your trainer, you will probably stop going so this is very important. Spend a little time getting to know them. Ask them some questions to see how they respond. Are they condescending or arrogant with their answers? If you can not get along or you find yourself annoyed by them in just a 5 minute interview, you will not be happy in the long run.

By just doing a little research, you greatly improve your odds of finding a good personal trainer who you like. Once you have done that, you will greatly improve your odds of reaching your physical fitness goals. … Read More
